Call of Duty: Ghosts appeases both sexes with female multiplayer characters

Call of Duty: Ghosts appeases both sexes with female multiplayer characters

I know, as a games news site, that I’m supposed to be impartial, to provide you with the news first and my opinions on said news second.  There’s two problems with that. First, I have a hard time keeping my opinions to myself, so they always end up coming out anyways.  Second, I have a really hard time containing my disdain for not only the Call of Duty franchise as a whole (except for the first two.  Remember those?  The…

Sony shutting down MAG and SOCOM servers for good

Sony shutting down MAG and SOCOM servers for good

In another hilariously depression lesson on why always-on connections and a reliance on publisher-hosted-servers is a bad thing, Sony released a statement saying it will be permanently shutting down all MAG, SOCOM4, and SOCOM: Confrontation servers on January 28th. Sony shutting down MAG and SOCOM servers for good. With the closure of MAG and SOCOM developer Zipper Interactive last year, this shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, but it is disheartening.  For those keeping score – when the…

New Thief Trailer

New Thief Trailer

Am I the only one that thinks the new Thief just looks like a slightly-changed Dishonored?  I mean, I’m sure it’s plenty different, but the trailers I have seen all make it look relatively similar to that other semi-steampunk/gothic sneaker game. I can’t really tell from this trailer what the gameplay is actual like either.  A lot of the trailer seems to be cut scenes and pre-rendered stuff, and not a lot of actual gameplay, but who knows.  I hope…

Battlefield 4 shows of it’s pretty, but pointless, singleplayer campaign

Battlefield 4 shows of it’s pretty, but pointless, singleplayer campaign

Let’s not mince words here – nobody buys a Battlefield game of the story.  In fact, the only reason I remember there is eve a campaign mode in any previous Battlefield games is because I was forced to play one mission in them when the launch day servers went down.   If you’re not buying Battlefield 4 for the multiplayer, you’re doing it wrong. Having said that, the game DOES look pretty.  It’s got the requisite amount of explosions, guns,…

Avast Matey! AirBuccaneers Review

Avast Matey! AirBuccaneers Review

AirBuccaneers started life as a mod for Unreal Tournament 2004.  It was inventive, unique, and fun back then. Now, following a very successful Greenlight campaign, it is available on Steam and the current iteration has come to exemplify everything I would expect form a small/indie developer, both good and bad. AirBuccaneers (not sure why there’s not a space in the name) has been created by developer Ludocraft as a game that allows you to be what you’ve always secretly dreamed of being – a…

Co-op/sandbox spaceship sim thing, PULSAR: Lost Colony

Co-op/sandbox spaceship sim thing, PULSAR: Lost Colony

Now isn’t this something – an ostensibly FPS version of FTL?  Yes please! A few buddies and myself recently bought and played the game ARTEMIS: Spaceship Bridge Simulator.  It’s quite fun and amusing, but it lacks a 2 things really; the ability to run around your ship or planets in first-person, and any kind of wider meta-game or persistent galaxy.  PULSAR: Lost Colony looks like it has all of those things, and more. The 2-man development team, Leafy Games, is…
